Venosta Valley – Cultural Region in South Tyrol

Hiking holiday in South Tyrol

The Upper Vinschgau area is a true hiking paradise with fascinating panoramic views. From the Watles Watles mountain you can overlook the valley basin and enjoy views of the surrounding Alpine mountain world. The ascent is very easy: just take the 4-seater chair lift, which brings you up to the mountain terminal (with a children’s playground) in a few minutes, at an altitude of 2,150 metres. Not far away, there is a lake to play in, as well as a 3D archery course.
Tips: hiking trips to Lake Pfaffen (suitable for prams & buggies!!), the Zerz Valley or the Sesvenna hut. For a one hour walk, you can take the path to Marienberg Cloisters in St. Johann in Müstair. The Legend’s Path (Sagenweg), as well as other theme paths are popular with families.

There are numerous other things the Vinschgau has to offer. For example, the Stilfser Joch Nature Park with 200 km of well-marked hiking trails which reaches into North Tyrol (Austria). In addition, there is also the Swiss National Park. The Ortler, the highest mountain in South Tyrol, is worth a hiking trip lasting several days. Take the Vinschgau High Mountain Road! If you prefer a more comfortable walk, enjoy the route along the irrigation channels.
