Venosta Valley – Cultural Region in South Tyrol

Steps to heaven

Fortresses, churches, cloisters – the Roman sites in South Tyrol and Graubünden are art-historic treasures with great European value. 47 of these extraordinary Roman sites are situated along the so-called Roman Alpine Road. In its geographic centre, is the World Heritage site of Cloisters St. Johann in Müstair. The South Tyrolean route of the Romanic Road stretches from Nonsberg, the wine road, the burgrave’s office and the Vinschgau. From there, the Graubünden route leads you through the Swiss Engadin and stops just before you hit the gates of St. Moritz.
